PAOLA PITAGORA
in the role of Ada
Ada is a key figure to the story of Pane dal cielo. She represents the “common sense” of the middle class who usually look the other way when they see a homeless person but at the same time still have the capacity to open up and feel compassion even though they may not be aware of this.
The verses of Alda Merini’s poem that I have recited in cathedrals and in the streets, give Lilli’s character a certain lightness that paves the way to the turning point of the story. The miracle, the new man in the form of a child that only some can see. It is very important that this miracle should take place in Milan, a worldly European city where social differences are most evident and where there are many people in great difficulty and not only financially.
